Said the following about Claire Douglas:

“Claire Douglas has been working in the rail industry for 15 years. The progress she has made over that time is really something to be proud of; joining the railway as station staff, after seeing an advert in her local Fife Free Press, being a train conductor and qualifying as a driver in 2008. Claire has always challenged herself throughout her railway career and it has been worth every effort.

The job brings Claire variety and she enjoys being out and about and driving to different places, one day Edinburgh and Fife, and the next Inverness or down to Carlisle. She is courteous toward the significant surge in railway enthusiasts who travel from all over Britain to see our Class 68 locomotive which is used on the Fife commuter services. Claire has time to answer questions from visitors and commuters of all ages, a great ambassador for DRS.

Claire has recently been nominated by former work colleagues and successful in getting into the Top 20 Most Inspirational Women in Rail 2016 out of 194 nominations throughout the UK. Claire is a role model to others, especially other young female drivers, because of her professional diligence and her exceptional customer service in her role as a Driver at Direct Rail Services. If they too can commit, have determination and passion for the industry, they could realise that they are more than capable of having a successful career like Claire.“
