Said the following about Angus Draper:

“As Safeguarding Manager for London Underground, Gus pioneered the first voluntary enrolment of a rail operator in the Safeguarding on Rail scheme. Enrolling in Oct 2021 achieving accreditation for LU-TfL in November 2022, demonstrating his and our organisation's commitment to protecting the millions of passengers that use our network on a daily basis.

Gus is an incredibly energetic and positive member of the TfL team and he is always seeking ways that we can do better as an organisation. His commitment and dedication to our people and our customers brightens any team that he works with and he has a natural talent for bringing people together to achieve more and putting smiles on people's faces. In the Safeguarding Manager role he successfully introduced and trained 70 safeguarding officers across the operation by providing people with the opportunity to put themselves forward to be part of the team, led the design and delivery of training and set up a quarterly governance group. He continued the good work of the suicide prevention programme by making suicide prevention training part of the induction programme for all new starters in LU ops and opened up this training to ABM, BTP, LFB and network command. He was also the Lead Ambassador for TfL’s White Ribbon Accreditation, which coordinates the business’ efforts to eliminate male violence against women.

Of the Safeguarding on Rail scheme, the following was said in the feedback from the BTP as part of the accreditation:

'I am delighted to advise you that LU TfL clearly demonstrate fulfilment of the performance and standards required against the SRS criteria and are thus awarded full accreditation. LU TfL achieved the exceptionally high pass mark of 82.5% which is a testament to the significant amount of work put in to protect and safeguard vulnerable people travelling on your network.

I would like to acknowledge that LU TfL joined the SRS process voluntarily and has really engaged with an enthusiasm and commitment that is exemplary. Our BTP Assessor has fed back the incredible work carried out by Angus Draper and his safeguarding team in ensuring a coherent programme of training, discussions and collaboration has taken place both with BTP and other partners.

I would once more like to congratulate LU TfL for the work that you have done to deliver the SRS criteria. Every member of staff interviewed during the assessment process were knowledgeable and showed a real passion for protecting vulnerable people.'“
