Andy has developed a fabulous tool for assessing the risk of ALO working. This not only enables the usual planning of this work but really helps identify the potential impact of the planned works.
The tool allows both curvature and cant to be included when calculating the separation distances. It also considers the various types of Movement Limiting Devices.
Andy has rolled training out across our business and has also been undertaking training in other Principal contractor's businesses to enable them to better mitigate this risk.
Within our business this has changed the thinking of the team and they have becoming more able to deal with the risk and challenge poor practise. It has given them a real tool to manage the risk. Andy has been both fundamental at helping develop the tool but also in engaging the team and changing hearts and minds.“
