Said the following about Andrea De Rosa:

“Andrea ‘Papa’ De Rosa joined the rail industry as young man over 40 years ago. During that time he has worked his way through the ranks from Trackworker, Track Renewals Pre-Fab Operative/Supervisor and Senior Person in Charge of Possession. Andrea is still a fully qualified SPICOP and carries out his duties for Bridgeway midweek nights, bank holidays and weekends so that he can practice what he preaches. He’s our Mr Railway Mr Dependable!

He is hardworking and extremely committed to ensuring that safety standards are maintained at high level. He has a passion for ensuring that all staff are well informed about the job in hand, safety risks on the railway. He is always available to colleagues out of hours to assist with problems - such is his commitment to the safety and well being of the team. He is a pleasure to work with and he sets a fantastic example to everyone he works with.

Over the years, we here at Bridgeway and his clients really admire his can do/will do attitude and he rises to the challenge of the ‘too difficult to do’ jobs Bridgeway Consulting and Clients continue to turn to Andrea whenever there are challenging projects to be managed and delivered and are rarely disappointed. He was a key member of the West Coast Mainline Upgrade Possession Management team for over 8 years, taking complex possessions, always delivering on time and helping support newly trained staff (who have since gone on to have excellent railway careers.

All in all Andrea is committed railwayman/person he is professional, friendly, approachable, helpful and motivated in everything he does and I have no hesitation in recommending Andrea for this award and hope that our industry can show their appreciation of a man who has worked extremely hard who puts the needs of the team, client, and the job first- so let’s show him the recognition he deserves. Personally having worked in the rail industry for 37 years.... I know it is very rare to come across people like Andrea and this award would a fitting tribute to the life that he has committed to the railway. I know his nomination for such an important award will be fully supported not only by Bridgeway, his family but also his railway colleagues (past and present) across the UK.“
