“Alan works as the On Track Plant Specialist in the Lancs & Cumbria Delivery Unit of Network Rail. He often goes beyond the requirement of his role by assisting lesser experienced ones to understand how to develop and interpret lifting plans together with the intricacies of adjacent line open working practices, which is now a vital component of railway safety culture. Alan has worked in the rail industry for over 30 years and has, not only an earnest desire to help others, but also has a real passion for an industry that he has devoted half of his life to. For that reason I believe that he deserves official commendation and should be rewarded accordingly. Therefore, I have submitted this nomination. Thank you.“
