“I am nominating Gary Brown and Asuna Whitworth-Carr as they are Train Presentation Staff at Carlisle Station. On Wednesday, 10th August 2022 Gary and Asuna were on duty when Gary came across a man at the front of the station. He had attempted to hang himself and was unconscious. Gary took the weight of the man and held him whilst another person removed the ligature. Asuna attended and called the emergency services, relaying information of the situation. Gary and a member of the Avanti staff checked the man was breathing and put him into the recovery position. They continued to monitor him and make him comfortable until the ambulance arrived 10 minutes later. Had it not been for their prompt action and professional demeanour there could have been a very different outcome.“
