Said the following about Wes Simmons:

“I would like to nominate Wes for the outstanding customer service award. Wes works his trains with an infectious smile on his face every day, he is always happy to help and find solutions to problems, no matter how challenging the situation may be. He has been involved in helping to teach local schoolchildren about the wide range of careers on the railway, inspiring the next generation of rail staff to come through.

A prime example of Wes going 'above and beyond' was when an elderly couple ended up severely delayed on his train on their way to the airport to start their holiday, confused and distressed Wes calmed them down with upgrades to first class, before kindly offering them a lift from his home station once he had finished his shift, so they would make it in good time for their flight. This is all in a days work for Wes nothing is too much trouble for him. A credit to the industry.“
