Said the following about Danny Roberts:

“I have known Danny ROBERTS for over 15years and have nominated him many times before. Danny always goes above and beyond in his role as a customer service assistant at Grimsby Railway Station, nothing is ever too much trouble whether he be helping a passenger or a police officer in their role.

Two particular incidents have occurred this year where I have sent thank you letters to his manager. The first being a stabbing incident at Grimsby Town station where the male when onto the railway tracks. Danny remained calm and coaxed the male off the railway tracks and to a place of safety, the male was injured and also intoxicated. Danny was able to manage the situation very well by requesting all emergency services and had also began to administer first aid when police arrived. He did all this in a very unstable situation and what was paramount was the individuals safety. Danny was late off duty, however he assisted me further by viewing the TPE CCTV so I was able to collate evidence quickly and effectively once I had dealt with the victim. Not only was this extremely helpful it was vital to the police investigation.

The second incident relates to a vulnerable male that attends the station regularly. Danny is a very caring individual and knows many passengers on first name basis. Danny regularly checks on the young males welfare, the male in question has some learning difficulties. Danny noticed that this individual had been befriended by an older male and alerted the police. As a result of his vigilance the safety of the vulnerable male was checked and relevant departments in Humberside Police (public protection) were involved and the situation was monitored and checked. Again this highlights not only Danny's commitment to his role but also the fact that he is aware of what is happening on the station and the importance of being vigilant at all times to changing situations and circumstances.

I believe he is the 'unsung hero' of the booking office staff at Grimsby and cannot stress enough how I have witnessed over the years how he has gone out of his way to help and assist individuals that have crossed his path whilst on duty at Grimsby Town Station; always doing more than is expected, he should be proud of himself.“
