“Consistently excellent service provided to customers indiscriminately.

I would like to nominate Charles Dickson for employee of the year as he continues to display consistently exceptional behaviour, maintenance and customer CARE in his job.

Charles is seen as a local hero at his station Gipsy Hill - and for good reason - for the better part of a decade Charles has been working at Gipsy Hill and has got to know literally everyone within the area, passengers and staff alike. Over this time, communicating with the locals and even new faces that come through his station I've personally witnessed him interacting with customers with a smile on his face and a welcoming aura, always greeting them and wishing them a safe journey subsequently leaving them with a smile on their faces.

One classic example I can remember of Charles' work ethic on display was him helping an elderly lady with directions for her train tomorrow as well as directions to a specific road within the local area. A lady was querying about how to get to White City from Gipsy Hill, Charles was warm with his welcome giving her eye contact and even fitting in a few jokes with the lady he had never seen before. As he was giving directions and advice on where to go, Charles had asked his ticket office colleague to give him a sheet of paper - so he could write down for the lady in case she forgot - the route she needed to take the following day. An interaction that would normally take up to about 2 minutes lasted about 15 as the lady was very fond with Charles' personality and they ended up just having a general conversation blended in from the travel advice. After this conversation he had then given her visual directions outside of the station of how to get to the nearby road she needed on this day.

This is just one example of Charles consistent standards while at work and his indiscriminatory behaviour makes it easy for all passengers to get along with him and know they can always expect a pleasant service if coming to him for guidance. Thorough, with his cleaning, precise with security checks, efficient with passenger assistance on/off the train, Charles' experience in the railway has shined through in his day to day work. On top of this he is always ready to work and punctual with his schedule.

For all the reasons above I believe Charles Dickson displaying this level of work year in and year out should definitely be voted for and the winner of; Employee of the year.“
