Said the following about Landor Street Contingency Site Team:

“At the start of lockdown, it became clear that it would be necessary for Freightliner's Birmingham’s Shared Service Centre in central Birmingham, to set up a contingency site to ensure they could continue to carry out critical functions like Payroll and Accounts Payable, should the Bull Street head office be closed due to COVID-19 cases.

Freightliner Birmingham Terminal’s General Manager, Adrian Pattisson was contacted about the possibility of accommodating some SSC colleagues at the Freightliner terminal at Landor House which had just had its first floor refurbished, the original plan being to create a new training school for trainee driver intakes etc. However, these plans were postponed when COVID-19 struck.

After checking out the refurbished and other office space, Freightliner's SSC director was keen to split teams between the SSC at Bull Street and Landor House as soon as possible.

As a result, Adrian and Midlands Production Manager, Richard Moore-Harris set about moving tables around and giving up their weekends to assist with setting up the rooms, rallying together to get everything ready within a week. In addition, two IT colleagues from Southampton travelled to Birmingham at the weekend, to ensure that the transition from classrooms to fully functioning offices for 21 staff was achieved within the very challenging timescales.

The great work of the team meant that we went from a vague conversation to 20 fully functioning workstations within about 48 hours before we went into full lockdown. The speed of the response meant that we ran three pay cycles from Landor Street and were able to keep processing invoices for payment.

An amazing achievement!“
