Said the following about Diversity and Inclusion Team Network Rail D and I Team:

“I am nominating this team for the Stand up For Race Equality project. In response to safety incidents and tribunals where racism was a key factor and the external environment on race the team have developed a powerful resource including scenario based films, questions for discussion, learning points and signposting. This is all about the effects of racism and non-inclusive behaviours on the safety of individuals, teams and passengers including physical and psychological. Extensive research was done to base these 5 case studies, recreated by actors on real experiences of colleagues in different parts of the business. All films are subtitled and for the first time we have used BSL interpreters through the course.

Our 43000 employees are all attending line manager led sessions as part of our commitment to building a safer more inclusive work place, whatever their role is, managerial or front line we are all stepping away from our role to participate in this and discuss within teams.

We have funded and made this resource available outside Network Rail for the wider industry to use and benefit from. There has been a good uptake with this helping make a difference to our people and passengers throughout the industry.
