Said the following about Alex Richardson:

“Alex Richards is a passionate and dedicated individual who displays superb leadership skills in order to lead her team on projects and consistently ensures delivery.

With bags of integrity, Alex always displays the right behaviours out on site or in the office and acts as role model to others. She’s trustworthy, shows up and won’t leave a job until she’s satisfied it’s been executed correctly and to the highest standards.

Alex is a rail project manager based at the CRSA’s Doncaster depot and has worked Network Rail for more nearly 20 years starting as a technical rail engineer within maintenance.

She’s worked on a variety of projects in many different positions over the years which has led to her role as project manager for the CRSA’s Eastern region.

She has a proven record delivering Track Renewals up and down the country on the eastern route such as Ambergate Jn remodelling, Holloway Jn, Bowes Park Jn and Dock Jn being instrumental in delivering them to budget, back to the customer to the highest quality, on time and safely.

She’s constantly collaborating with other teams, companies and suppliers building relationships to get the most out of her project team and to ensure the project is completed successfully, which consists of getting the resources, planning and delivery right in almost usually a very short amount of time.

On the August bank holiday weekend of 2019 her team successfully completed the replacement of the flat crossing at Newark, where the ECML crosses the Nottingham to Lincoln line. Works were undertaken across the three days of the bank holiday weekend.

The old Flat Crossing was replaced on a similar footprint but instead of using the traditional greenheart timber support bearers, synthetic FFU bearers were used on the UK rail network on a project of this type for the first time.

This innovative product widely used in Japan required product acceptance before it could be installed in the UK network. The core work was completed to plan and handed back on time accident and incident free.

The follow up work was completed in a timely manner and the project ended on time and within budget. Alex was fundamental in driving this project while ensuring its successful delivery.“
