“Whilst on duty and waiting for his train at Huntingdon Wayne’s attention was brought by Platform staff to a young woman sitting off the end of the platform. Wayne approached the young woman and it became obvious really quickly to Wayne that things were not right. The young lady was wearing a hospital gown and was very disturbed declaring her intention to end it all. Wayne managed to strike up a conversation with the young lady and kept her occupied whilst platform staff and other staff had trains stopped and BTP were on route the whole ordeal lasted for over 1 hour and Wayne stayed with the person throughout until the arrival of specialist BTP officers. Undoubtedly Wayne prevented another tragedy happening on the railway“
