Said the following about Simom Shattock:

“Great Western Railway (GWR) is one of the biggest rail franchises in the UK, part of the First Group of companies, operating the Western network since 1996, rebranding ourselves as GWR in 2015. We employ over 6000 people across our network and we carry more than one and a half million customers over two million single journeys on 10,000 services every week. People are at the heart of our business and our ethos is that we are 'greater together'.

Simon was working 1L71 on 28/05/18. He was patrolling his train after departure from Bristol Temple Meads and as he got to the vestibule area between two coaches, found a customer attempting to commit suicide by climbing out of the droplight window. Simon reacted very quickly and very bravely and pulled the woman back into the train. He had BTP on the train, advised them of the issue and they got the woman off of the train at Bath Spa. The customer host on board witnessed the event on the platform when the police restrained the woman in question. When I called Simon to check on him once I had heard of the incident, he was so caring that he wanted to ensure the customer host was okay, thinking of them before himself.“
