“Damian is an incredible member of the station team at Wigan North Western. He is our very own Superman!
Damian has been involved in several situations including tacking a suicidal female who ran towards the track as a train approached and getting her to a place of safety so we could get her the help she needed. Damian received a commendation from the British Transport Police in a ceremony a few weeks ago for this incident.
He tackled a male who tried to assault a group of females on the platform. The male was shouting comments about women being a problem to society and he was the devil whilst running round the group in circles. It was a bizarre situation. Damian with his wrestling background managed to get the male restrained until we could get assistance from the transport police, he did not hesitate and jumped straight in to help.
Only a couple of weeks ago, Damian gave a homeless male some mental health assistance as he came to the station to attempt suicide in our station toilets. We found the male in the disabled toilet with a weapon and several needles set out over the floor. Damian spent time with him, got him the help he needed and showed an amazing amount of compassion.
Damian not only deals with the big situations but he is amazing at his job, fab with passengers and a great support and role model to the rest of the station team!“
