Said the following about Thanga Haran:

“Thanga started working with Poise in June 2015 as a Graduate Electrical Engineer after graduating from University of East London in Electrical / Electronic Engineering. During his 2 years of employment at Poise, Thanga has shown exceptional growth as a well-rounded Engineer. He is an outstanding employee who on a daily basis goes ‘above and beyond’ in his engineering role and continuously exceeds the performance standards for his position.

Thanga has worked very closely with me on the delivery of three multi-million-pound rail electrification schemes for Network Rail (i) Reading 10 Car Capacity Upgrade (ii) Sussex Power Supply Enhancement and (iii) Wessex Circuit Main Shorting Devices (CMSD) Trial. He has shown exceptional performance on these projects and is a very reliable member of the team. He was not only proficient at application of engineering principles, but also demonstrated excellent managerial and decision-making skills. The client solicited his opinions and valued his inputs on the designs. For Wessex CMSD project, Thanga not only led detailed site surveys for 14 complicated sites, but also managed the designs for 3 of these sites. While undertaking designs for these sites, Thanga took into account the buildability of his proposals and in doing so, actively liaised not only with other disciplines internally i.e. Civils, P-Way etc. but also constantly engaged with the client to ensure that all the parties are on the same page.

His curiosity and a strong aptitude to practical problem solving make him stand out from his peers. Always willing to help, Thanga is one of the very few people who is capable of running many activities at the same time. Along with managing his own engagements, he is the Checker on the above-mentioned projects, where he checks the designs produced by other engineers in the team. He is very diligent and ensures that all proposals are up to the highest standards, both in terms of quality and in requirements of the project scope.

Along with the technical skills, Thanga is also very adept at identifying commercial issues on the projects. He is very thorough with the scope and client requirements and quickly identifies and makes the project management team aware of any changes to these.

Thanga works very well under pressure and so far, hasn’t missed a deadline on any of the projects he has worked on.

As well as being a talented Engineer, Thanga is a very keen sportsperson. He plays cricket for Kent Cricket League where he has smashed records in batting. His passion for cricket is extra-ordinary and he regularly organises cricket matches for the team members as a team-building exercise.

As Thanga’s line-manager, I am very proud to have him as part of my team and strongly recommend him for ‘Graduate of the Year’ award.“
