“In August 2018 Phil was part of a Rail Pastor team deployed to support Greater Anglia at the Station whilst a festival was on. Late on in evening Phil became aware of a vulnerable 20 yr. old male who walked off end of platform in order to wait for next train to take his own life. Phil supported by two other Rail Pastors used good clear communication skills to engage with the young man, encourage him to safety whereby the young man was saved.“
“Phil, my dad, was the lead member of a group who spent their night making sure someone vulnerable saw their next morning. Voluntarily, my dad does rail pastoring and by chance ended up saving a young man’s life, thus enabling him to seek the professional help he needed to prosper in the future.
My dad saw this gentleman walk of the end of a platform where the man waited for the next train to take his own life. It was through suspicion of such actions that my dad decided to intervene and interact with this man and bring him back to safety.

Everything seemed to go according to plan, the tables were well laid out with plenty of space between them, we had a great position near to the stage, the PA system was 'sound' (sorry) and the agenda seemed to run like clockwork, never a dull moment and the food was excellent.”
