Said the following about Gary Fairchild:

“Gary Fairchild joined the railway on the 1st October 1979. He started as a traffic trainee and has undertaken several roles during his time in the rail industry, this ranges from admin, operations and payroll. In 1983, Gary worked in the freight terminal handling documents for goods traffic for the sugar factory and brick works. His dedication over the past 40 years is second to none.

In 1984 to 1989, he worked as a stations control assistant and oversaw train announcements before moving into a role in the ticket office. In 1990, Garry worked at King’s cross with intercity and worked on Train performance and delays. He then moved to rail track in 1994 with premises dept.

Towards the end of 1998, Gary started working at London Victoria and was appointed the station support role, a role in which he remains to date. Gary has worked hard to sell the concept of good changes and is an excellent team leader who is highly respected by all. This has been achieved by supporting the team very closely whilst also enabling them to work independently.

Gary has been a great support and mentor to various people across the rail industry. His dedication and leadership shine through with various exemplary contributions throughout his career. He is an avid supporter of Peterborough Football Club (POSH), heritage railway, beer, architecture, gardening and cycling.“
