Said the following about Daniel Kidane:

“Daniel Kidane works for West Midlands Trains as a Revenue Protection and Security Manager for the West Midlands Region. By day, he is part of a team which works to reduce ticketless travel and anti-social behaviour on the cross city line.

On Tuesday 11th September Daniel was working at University station. A young male ran through to try and make a train, but arrived as the doors had closed. He was so angered by this, he punched the doors of the train as it got ready to depart. He was showing obvious signs of frustration and eventually sat down on the platform, very distressed.

A Cross Country train approached the station and Daniel became very concerned about the wellbeing of the male. Thankfully the train stopped!

Daniel saw this happen and began to talk to vulnerable male to try and calm him down. He listened to his problems and consolidated him and offered for him to sit down in the booking office. Here, he offered him a cup of tea and a chance to talk.

Just before he followed the male up to the booking office, Daniel checked that the train driver was okay. He also rang BTP (Log 152110918) who, after Dan had spoken to the young male in the office, took the male away.

I have nominated Daniel because through his actions, he remained calm and helped our vulnerable customer to the best of his ability. He kept a mind for safety and welfare checked the driver and other staff at the station. He is a credit to our team.“
