Said the following about Vincent O'Brien:

“Vincent was carrying out his cleaning duties one afternoon at the station when the depot manager from Merseyrail was advised of an incident in the female toilets.

On arrival in the toilets, the manager discovered Vincent in attendance, administering first aid to a young lady who had unfortunately attempted to take her own life.

Vincent worked collaboratively with Merseyrail staff, who had also responded, and he kept the lady calm while they administered what treatment they could, as quickly as possible.

Vincent was commended by Merseyrail staff who have said that Vincent worked tirelessly to give first aid and ensuring that the lady received the best possible treatment, and even managed to keep her spirits up with some good humour.

Vincent remained calm himself, was confident and handled the situation impeccably in a very tragic environment. The lady in question survived the incident and it’s thanks to Vincent and his colleagues at the station that she was able to be taken to hospital to receive further treatment.

We are incredibly proud Vincent is part of our Northern team.“
