Nominations for Rail Person of the Year

Sam Newman

Said the following about Rebecca Styles:

“Becky started her career at Northern in 2011 as a Conductor and became an Assessor a year later. Later, she would go on to be the Conductor Team Manager at Piccadilly. During this period, she became ever more involved in various community rail related activities. It was with this in mind that she applied for the role of Regional Community and Sustainability Manager.

Since moving into the role, Becky has worked hard to forge positive relations with a range of stakeholders as well as stepping up and taking on additional responsibilities as Stakeholder Manager.

Becky is highly respected by colleagues within the rail industry and beyond. She will always try her best, whether meeting MPs and Councillors in and around the Greater Manchester area where she is based or initiating station project development work. She regularly goes the extra mile, including maintaining conductor duties as required and always volunteers to support customers and frontline colleagues with out of hours events. Becky is enthusiastic and positive about her role and is an inspirational ambassador for both Northern and for women working in rail.

Becky is keen to learn more about different elements of the rail industry and equally keen to share her knowledge with other members of the team. She has featured in a Manchester Evening News article (https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/women-rail-leadership-diversity-career-17618045?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=sharebar) about women in the rail industry, and she plays an active role in this area by both attending regular events and working with local schools/colleges to inspire others. In her spare time Becky volunteers in her local community, in particular her local running club and homeless charities.“
