He has the patience of a saint also he is always smiling and anything if he can do it is no problem and we are lucky that he is a member of our team at Harpenden .“

Paul works at the lovely Harpenden station as platform staff.

If you can’t see Paul, you will always hear him, either whistling a tune or a “dum dum de dum dumming” always makes me smile and usually join in without even knowing it.

Paul is one of the most kind and caring people I know.

Having worked alongside Paul for a few years now, I can truly say he is always Professional in the work place, Calm under pressure and always has that “can do attitude “nothing is ever a problem.

Need help with customers? Paul is always ready to help

Short staffed? Paul

Haven’t got enough for lunch? Paul will find something in his Tardis locker :)

Somethings broken? Paul will either fix the fault or report it,

No trains? Paul will find out and inform everyone, communication is another fantastic quality.

Sometimes Paul has finished his shift but you will still see him at work, either helping a colleague with something or just being that caring person to listen.

Whatever standards the company look for, Paul has them all 100% plus.

If I could clone Paul, I would.

It doesn’t matter what the job is, any weather condition, Paul is always ready to help customers, colleagues and injured wildlife.

Customer’s show how much they appreciate Paul when he has helped them.

Nice bottles of whiskey, wine, chocolates and biscuits.

Paul also likes to get involved with decorating Harpenden station for special events like Christmas, Valentines, Easter, Hallowe’en, The Queens Platinum Jubilee and the odd birthday too.

Harpenden won 1st prize in best decorated station.

You never feel alone at Harpenden when Paul is working.

If someone is dealing with a sick or injured passenger, Paul is always nearby to see if he can help in anyway.

Paul is also the champion for SQR audits and what a fantastic result the station has, again happy to help out his neighbouring station Luton Airport Parkway.

Paul has also been recognised for “Life saver award”

A young man who fell on hard times, who had lost his driver’s license due to ill health which unfortunately lead to him losing his job and boyfriend, just couldn’t cope.

The man jumped down onto the tracks.

Paul, always vigilant dealt with this very difficult and scary situation.

The correct procedures were put in place, it was a late cold evening and Paul managed to pull the man to safety, just getting him up onto the platform edge when a fast train came by.

Thankfully both were safe.

A true gentleman and Harpenden are very lucky to have him.

I am very lucky to know and work alongside Paul.

So many fantastic people in our company who deserve this recognition too but Paul, you are one of the many who truly do deserve this and this is why I have nominated you.“
