Said the following about MOHAMMED HASSAN:

“I would like to share with the wider Railway community of the quick actions that prevented a life and minimised disruption on the railway at a local station by Mohammed Hassan, a Customer Experience Assistant who works for MTREl.

Mohammed was performing his normal duties as platform manager when he was alerted by other customers on the platform to the presence of a young adult who had jumped down off the platform with the intent to take their life.

Mohammed, took immediate actions to speak with the individual. This was despite many of the surrounding customers being distressed whilst witnessing this incident. Mohammed remained calm & collected and reassured customers he was here to help and continued his professionalism by speaking to the individual and using his natural communication skills managed to coach them off the tracks and back to the safety of the platform.

This was by no way an easy task, due to an oncoming train already within the parameters of the platform station.

Mohammed's immediate action, coupled with the way he professionally dealt with this incident should not be underestimated as he clearly saved this individuals life and prevented long delays and disruption to bank holiday customers many, who were heading for the events at Windsor Castle.

Post incident, Mohammed remained at the scene whilst police were present and comforted the mother of the individual when she arrived at the station.“
