Nominations for Rail Team of the Year

Rebecca Meggs

Said the following about McGinley & Network Rail High Output TRS & Stressing Teams:

“The TRS & Stressing Teams on the Network Rail High Output contract consistently strive at meeting and exceeding McGinley company values and safety expectations, even more so in the last 24 months, in what has been an unprecedented time.

When the COVID-19 pandemic took hold in 2020, our management team and workers on our High Output contract worked collaboratively to devise a solution to the working environment that would maintain productivity on major (and essential) track renewal programs as well the safety of the workers and their families.

Due to the nature of the works, these teams spend time away from home, working with 800m Track Renewal Systems (TRS) that replace existing rails and sleepers with high-performing new ones. Keeping the rail network’s infrastructure performing at a high standard, allowing the public to be ‘home safe everyday.

But during COVID-19 the TRS & Stressing Teams committed to ‘bubbles’, travelling, working and living away from home for long periods of time (weeks and months at a time) in team bubbles, even more, than they had before so that they could continue to work on the contact and keep the UK moving during this complex time. In addition, the teams had to comply with restricted movements and many new and enhanced safety protocols to protect each other. All of which they took in their stride.

Jamie Zineldin, Account Manager, McGinley Support Services.

“This team actively challenge and deal with safety critical situations on a daily basis, and during COVID-19 and lock-downs they have shown resilience and professionalism beyond their peers. All we can say is thank you”

Zac McCarthy, National Resource Manager, Network Rail.

“The commitment of the TRS & Stressing teams to the national High Output works have maintained our consistency in delivering renewals across the network. During the pandemic, their additional commitment to work with restricted measures made our delivery to our customers achievable. Network Rail thanks them for their efforts during this time, and for their continuing assistance in working with High Output.”“
