Main Entry

Lucy joined McGinley in 2020 as an Administrator. From the very start, her enthusiasm to learn resonated through our business and she has quickly grown in confidence. Progressing through two positions in the last 24 months.

She is a driving force within McGinley and shows tremendous initiative, constantly striving for new and improved ways of working, resourcing, and supporting the workforce. She has a real passion for the rail industry.

“Lucy joined my team on a temporary basis to assist with recruitment, it became evident rather quickly that Lucy had the determination and initiative to do more, moving into to support the team in building relationships between ourselves and the client. Lucy brought on several key workers during this time, who are still with us today. Lucy is now a cornerstone of our business and a true role model to others, both inside and outside McGinley”

Jamie Zineldin, Account Manager, McGinley Support Services

As the youngest person in her team, Lucy took to her Recruitment Consultant role and resourcing for a region of the country with ease, helping to shape the future of the contract by building a solid relationship with the client, growing the account in terms of revenue by reducing the need for second-tier supply and negotiated with the client to add more operatives onto contracts of employment which gives security to her workforce. All of this in a short space of time.

She also gained her qualifications in face fit testing, so is pro-active on-site to provide safety briefings and face fit testing.

Lucy takes great pride and responsibility for all workers and clients in her region. She has a proven ability to achieve at a level beyond that normally expected, putting McGinley first at all times. She exceeds the expectations of her peers and management, expanding her extensive knowledge of internal systems at every opportunity. She is a true asset not only to McGinley but to our clients too.

For example, she took initiative early in her career to work with colleagues in her spare time, to gain a greater understanding of workforce planning and skills or delivery gaps. From this, Lucy actively engaged with our apprentice programme, to ensure apprentices have been trained in numerous parts of the infrastructure, building their skillset and in turn developing a more robust workforce with skills to ensure we overcome skills or delivery gaps.

“I met Lucy in May 2021, when joining High Output. Lucy has come a long way in this time, she has a thirst for knowledge, is constantly bringing new ideas to the table and is keen to learn from us and adapts to support our contract. She is simply irreplaceable. Lucy is an advocate for the industry, always excited at the prospect of bringing new people in and I hope we can see more people like her in the future.”

Chris Oldham, Resource Manager, Network Rail

Lucy has recently been promoted to Account Interface Manager, the core of this role will allow McGinley to place the workforce across many contracts, rather than just one. This role will challenge Lucy, taking the outstanding abilities she learnt as a Recruitment Consultant and building on them, allowing her to broaden her knowledge and actively learn about the commercial side of workforce planning. In addition to this promotion, Lucy has also taken on the responsibility of training an apprentice within McGinley, something she is extremely excited about, allowing her to pass on her knowledge and shape the future of our industry.

Lucy is a role model to many and plays an active part in our corporate CSR activities, her passion lies in encouraging females and youth to consider the railway and McGinley as an employer of choice.

Lucy advocates for the industry at every opportunity and is keen for people to know that it is ‘open’ and that there are many routes to gain access. She has attended several events over her time with McGinley such as school engagement, DWP and apprentices recruitment sessions and appearing in our EDI company video in the last 24 months.“
