“Loren has worked at c2c for nine years and his commitment and work ethic is second to none.
He is a valued member of the fleet team and is an excellent communicator who is both conscientious and thorough in every task he tackles. Loren works incredibly hard, is friendly and approachable and is always willing to help his colleagues even when under pressure to meet deadlines.
Loren has led on several complex projects at c2c and his clear commitment to the outcomes and achieving the end goals has been outstanding. These projects include:
Project managing the refresh of our entire class 357 units (74 in total) and the reconfiguration of trains into metro units, which included defining the scope of work, liaising with contractors around the design as well as contractor management while the works were taking place.
Loren has been instrumental in integrating a new web-based fleet management system and has also negotiated the dilapidation commitment for our 357 units with our rolling stock company.
Recently, Loren took charge of the loan to GWR of several of our 387 units after a significant amount of their trains had to be taken out of service after cracks were discovered in their electric and electro-diesel trains constructed by Hitachi Rail. This was no mean feat but Loren rose to the challenge and didn’t falter in his commitment to supply the units in a timely manner to ensure support to GWR’s service.
Finally, this summer we unveiled two special vinyl wrapped trains. One was our very first new ‘Trainbow’ to demonstrate c2c’s continued commitment to diversity and inclusion, and the second was a special gold train to celebrate local charity Gold Geese who support local children suffering from cancer.
Loren is a true hero and didn’t complain once about the extra work and responsibility he took on to manage the application of both train vinyl projects, which were completed on time with no issues.
I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with Loren over the last nine years and he is a consummate professional who takes on any task given to him with enthusiasm and dedication. His warmth and quiet demeanour is respected by everyone he works with and he is a highly trusted member of my team. He would be a very worthy recipient of this award.“
