Nominations for Rail Team of the Year

Jonathan Glass

Said the following about Johnstone Station Staff:

“Susan, Janice and Claire - the ladies at Johnstone station are a fantastic bunch, and along with the extensive charity work that they do, they are known for being approachable, friendly and knowledgeable about the railway.

Don't just take my word for it.

The first thing you see when you go into Johnstone station is an abundance of thank you letters from customers who they've assisted on to the train, got them cheaper long-distance train tickets or, in some cases, kept customers out of danger.

It is a station that is at the heart of the community and the top team deserve to win Rail Team of the Year.“

Emily Lacey

Said the following about Johnstone Station Staff:

“Rail stations are not only a place to buy your ticket and catch your train from, but, with the right staff, can be an epicentre for the local community. That’s exactly what the staff at Johnstone Station have done. Susan, Janice, and Claire have embraced the Johnstone community and are involved with various charities which support the people of Johnstone and the surrounding area.

The winter holidays in particular are a difficult time for people, and the Johnstone staff ramp up their charity efforts at this time, although it is something which they do year-round. They help provide gifts for children as well as food for families. They began a project called ‘A Gift for Mum’ with Woman’s Aid that runs around the holidays. With so many groups helping mother ensure their children have gifts, they themselves are often forgotten on Christmas. ‘A Gift for Mum’ collects gifts for children to wrap up and give their mum on Christmas day.

In addition to this work, they also work with two drug projects with the help of a group called Turn Around. The staff at the station did not start this work for the praise, but because they believe in how rail stations can provide a strong positive impact to their community. Their roles as Station Grade B puts them in the position to support the people of Johnstone and, alongside the support of their customers, they have done an amazing job and made a meaningful impact upon the community.“
