Said the following about Ian Wallis:

“On the 23rd of February 2022 at around 05.30hrs, Ian Wallis noticed a young lady crying across the road from the Maintenance Facility. The young lady was leant against a telegraph pole by some bushes. Ian was concerned for her and went over to speak to her to check on her welfare, at this point she advised Ian that she wanted to end her life by jumping in front of a car.

Ian comforted her for a while and called the Police. The Police informed Ian they had no available units in the area and there would be a considerable delay in their attendance. Due to this and his concern for her welfare Ian remained with the young lady and over time encouraged her to call the Samaritans which she eventually did.

While she was on the phone to the Samaritans Ian remained with the young lady and over time she gave the impression to Ian that she was a lot more upbeat and happier. Ian was now reasonably content she was in a ‘better place’ and no longer a threat to herself, however, he sat in his car and kept a visual check on her for a while as she walked along the road. At this point, the Police arrived and Ian jumped out and spoke to them and directed them to the young lady and left the Police to deal with the situation.

I am certain that without Ian intervention this young lady could potentially caused herself some serious harm.“
