Said the following about Huey Lee:

“Huey is a multi-talented individual who is flexible, hardworking and always willing to help others. Huey took over the Civils delivery manager role for three route sections of the Wales & Borders project since May 2021. Even though this is her first managerial role, she has been doing a fantastic job since day one. She is keeping a good record of all issues and raises EWNs and CRFs as necessary. She also helped with compiling a resource plan for the wider civils team.

Huey is also one of the Carbon champions within Amey’s rail business. She has been making a positive impact on the designers to embrace carbon as one of design parameters. Huey has complied a user guide for level crossing to disseminate the knowledge she gathered when working on a level crossing upgrade project. As a member of ‘Women @ Amey’, Huey actively promotes diversity and inclusion within Amey and Rail industry. As a STEM ambassador she takes part in several activities and encourages others to promote engineering among school children.“

Said the following about Huey Lee:

“Huey is a perfect example of what an engineer should be at the early stages of a professional career. An optimistic, motivated, and highly empathic individual who made a huge and positive impact in our team.

She is currently doing an outstanding job on her role as a Civils Delivery Manager for the complex Wales & Borders CVL project. She is successfully managing different deliverables to very tight timescales, which requires a good understanding of the entire design process with both high organisation and communication skills. Huey also possess the ability to have creative thinking that allowed her to innovate and improve existing ways of working and designing within the business.

From the start, the team and managers praised her ability to positively work with the different disciplines. Huey works efficiently and respectfully with others who have different responsibilities, backgrounds and areas of expertise.

In addition, she is doing a fantastic job on her recent role as a Line Manager for three junior members of our team. Huey’s remarkable managing abilities, backed by her strong listening and empathy skills, make her the ideal person to guide, motivate and inspire them. As a STEM ambassador she is actively engaged in activities to promote engineering within the young generations.

Huey displays both passion and creativity that are highly regarded in our industry. Her willingness to learn and improve every day are evident and I have no doubt that she will succeed in everything she envisions.“

Paul Evans

Said the following about Huey Lee:

“Huey has demonstrated that she is a multi-talented assistant engineer. She combines her excellent engineering knowledge with the capability to undertake BIM modelling and produce high quality Microstation drawings. For example on the Leeds project last year, Huey analysed the OLE structures using SuperSTRESS, undertook the OLE foundations designs, and then generated 3D CAD models and design drawings using Microstation. Huey’s contribution was essential for the successful delivery of this project within a very tight programme.

Over the past 9 months or so she has successfully taken on the Delivery Manager role on the Wales and Borders Core Valley Lines project where she has demonstrated a high level of commercial acumen in controlling the Civils design budget and excellent organisational skills in co-ordinating the Civils design works. She has ensured that the civils design resource is correctly allocated and has worked closely with the Project Management team to report back on progress, blockers and change to the SLT. Huey is also very keen to assist with the development of others (as shown by her recently taking on a line management role for 2no. Rail Degree Apprentices).

She is keen to promote the Amey business as demonstrated when she successfully organised a careers fair at UTC Swindon. Huey is also very close to getting all of her CEng Attributes signed off in extremely quick time and is keen to progress to her ICE Chartership review next year. In summary, I believe Huey deserves recognition for her passion for learning, commitment to delivering her assigned tasks, her dedication and hard work to achieve her goals, her flexible approach and her ability to work collaboratively within a team.“

Said the following about Huey Lee:

“I was Huey’s people manager during her university placement. She was assigned to do complex level crossing drawings to learn CAD skills. She picked up quickly and spent time on going through various standards to be used to produce these drawings. She joined us after completion her university degree. She worked on many projects under me where the projects were very challenging and critical to delivery for example Christmas blockade.

Our BIM software crashed on the day, of our Christmas dinner arranged in 2018. We had many critical submissions on that day. My high performing team wanted to finish the job although we have been told to go to the party. Huey led the CAD team on the day by assigning works to them. She is well trained CAD skills in her own. She did the CAD QA and essential updates on the day. Without her, we were unable to achieve this target. We went to party when food serving time. The whole team praised by over welcoming emails next day. This is just one example for commitment and diligent way of working.

Huey is very advanced in Microsoft teams. I used to learn from her time to time. She is a really advanced user of Microsoft word. She is one my person for resolving advanced features. I often praised by submissions quality in addition to the technical contents. Huey was one those backbones to my achievement. Now this allows me to apply this learning to wider CVL project, where I recently improved Civils’ submissions quality to very high standard.

I don’t know what the limit for her talent is and still wondering how she finds time.“
