“I have nominated by younger brother Gordon, not only is he a excellent train driver with a flawless record, but a real life saver. While many of us enjoy our free time away from work doing hobbies etc... My brother regularly travels from St Helens to Liverpool to donate blood and platelets. He has been a donor for around 20 years and this year reached the 100 donations mile stone in the words of Mike Stredder (director of blood donation) "Your commitment over the years has helped save and improve hundreds of lives". The platelets donation involves being attached to a blood separating machine for upto 90 minutes. Platelets are required by patients with leukaemia or other cancers and may have too few platelets as the result of their disease or treatment. One donation can help 3 adults or 12 children so Gordon truely has helped hundreds of people. My brothers dedication to giving blood and saving lives makes him a very worthy nominee in 2016.“

John said Station staff are an integral part of the railway and being the first port of contact, they play a very important role in helping customers and making their experience on the railway a pleasant one.
