Deborah was very passionate about ensuring customers at the station had a great experience at the station during the commonwealth games, and as the number of customer travelling through the station was going to increase we needed to increase staff support at the station. Deborah ensured us volunteers put the station's customers at the heart of everything we do.

Said the following about Deborah Hubner:

“Deborah recently led the co-ordination and planning for volunteers at Birmingham New Street station for the Commonwealth Games - and did a truly AMAZING job! She meticulously planned this in advance and communicated clearly with volunteers to ensure that they were well prepared, had travel arrangements in place etc.

During the Games, Deborah worked tirelessly to make sure that volunteers felt (and were) well looked after, and confident about what was expected of them. Deborah put customers at the heart of this - not just rail users, but games goers and anyone passing through or around the station during the period of the Games. The most powerful thing which Deborah was keen to convey was that all volunteers enjoyed the experience and had fun. This took a lot of pressure off and meant that as a volunteer (I speak from first-hand experience) I felt empowered to do whatever I needed to ensure that all customers were having a brilliant experience.

This was evidenced in the amazing atmosphere throughout the station - happy, smiling customers and staff - with Deborah's excellence and passion for customer service at the heart of things.

Brilliant job Deborah, and a huge thank you on behalf of your customers and colleagues!“

Said the following about Deborah Hubner:

“Deborah did a simply wonderful job of co-ordinating the volunteers who helped out at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham this summer. She energised the whole group and was instrumental in us providing much needed customer support to New Street station at a time when many thousands of people were coming to Birmingham for the games. Feedback from customers was that they really appreciated the extra assistance that was on hand and many customer issues were sorted promptly and efficiently, at a time when there were significant operational challenges. This would not have been possible without Deborah's huge personal efforts. She deserves all the recognition that she gets.“
