“Amey employees chose Cancer Research UK for a 2 year charity and fund raising partnership in 2020. Throughout these past two years David has been the central figure championing CRUK fundraising and raising awareness of this horrible disease.
David regularly promotes work being done by Amey staff to either raise funds for CRUK or undertaking work in any other way, no matter how much or how little. He gave me courage to write about my family experience with cancer which was used in a CRUK promotion.
Amey staff raised over £115,000 in the first year of fundraising, mid way through the second year we're at £226,000. A fantastic effort no doubt pushed on by David's inspiration and encouragement. Personally he has gathered over 300 bags of donated clothes and items for resale, through community engagement. He also established Amey's 'Early Careers' challenge - a month long challenge in which Amey's apprentices and graduates are encouraged to get involved in creative ideas and activities to fundraise. In total this raised £16,000.
One day we will beat cancer. Raising money is just part of the fight. Special people like Dave need recognising.“
