“Danny has been consistently delivering high quality work and learning and development solutions to the business and he has become well respected with the senior leaders in the business, as well as in the operational teams. He has worked above and beyond his remit in the last year when challenged with temporarily taking over the full remit of the L&D function and then eventually taking on the full remit of the learning and development team with the support of his team. He continues to deliver the design and delivery of the Manager Passport programme and the new Learning and Development Strategy.

He has delivered and implemented the new Competency Management System and will be delivering this to other areas of the business on the back of its success and has delivered a larger than usual amount of Driver, Guard and Retail schools alongside the teams on top of the daily work required. Danny is the right person to implement, influence and encourage change and behaviours within the workplace. Danny has a wealth of knowledge and experience; he displays attributes of a true team player. Danny supported and led an Emergency Exercise of which we were the first Train Operator to do via Teams during the pandemic. Furthermore, he delivered resilience training to the Safety Reps during the pandemic, receiving a lot of praise and good feedback.

He shows great commitment regarding ensuring all our managers have the right training and development in which to do their role to the best ability. He arranged workshops and conferences to discuss different experience, challenges, and areas for improvement in which could be trained and delivered to the business. He is open and honest in all that he does and always adds a little humour along the way. Throughout 2021 and still ongoing he shows a real caring appetite to ensure people have the right support through training and awareness throughout the business. Nothing is ever too much trouble. He gains the trust and respect from all around him. Many of his colleagues enjoy working with Danny as he demonstrates openness, determination, and energy.“
