Shirley Ross

Said the following about Andrew R Clare:

“I would like to nominate Andrew for this award for his 35 years of continued dedication to Preston Station. Andrew is pivotal to the success of Preston with his can do, will do attitude and dedication. What Andrew doesn't know about the station undoubtedly doesn't need to be known. The team look up to Andrew as a role model and call him their work dad, all down to his great knowledge that he shares with all and the time he spends making sure the team are all looked after.

He is passionate about making things right and when they are not he will not give up until they are.

Andrew thank you for all you do.“

“Andrew is just a brilliant team leader, he cares about his role, the station and the team!

He has been a brilliant mentor to me and has put time into my training.

His knowledge, enthusiasm and interest of the railway shows daily.

He is reliable and consistent, anytime I need him he a phone call away! I had an incident with a lot of footballers the other day and I called over the radio for help, he was by my side with in seconds. Then took the first aid kit off to clear up the casualties.“

Elaine Clare

Said the following about Andrew R Clare:

“Andrew has been a rail worker for the city of Preston since 1986 when he joined British Rail on a youth training programme. During his long career he has gained experience and knowledge of the station and all its workings that he is now known as ‘boss’ want to know where a key is, how to find a stop tap, know the location of a fire call point you will only need to ask the ‘boss’. Friends and family cannot travel through Preston station without not seeing him that they question if he actually lives there.

This nomination is for a man who has given his life to the rail network and is the face of Preston railways.“
