Using her skill and judgment as a communications professional, Alison has put trees, fences, drainage, geotechnical assets and ecology into the public eye with engaging and fun, yet clear and informative methods.
Her effect has reached across media of all types. Print newspapers, magazines, online news, chat rooms, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, even BBC TV news have all engaged with us, promoting the rail industry to thousands and thousands of people!
Each time her colleagues receive great exposure and congratulations. It would be lovely to give Alison recognition for this and a similar turn in the limelight!

Alison hit the ground running with drive and a passion for excellence, looking for ways to help straight away. For many people starting a new role, there is a period of tentativeness, but Alison sought to make a difference straight away. Since joining the team she has secured membership for Scotland's Railway with Scottish Land and Estates, providing a vital communications channel with key stakeholders and important audiences. She also organised and hosted our presence at the Royal Highland Show in Edinburgh of this year, during a particularly sensitive time for the railway in the public eye.

The night itself was really fantastic and I said to my wife, June, just let’s sit back and enjoy it: no pressure as I didn't really think that I would win! Well, as soon as 25 years were mentioned, I took one look at June, while shaking my head in disbelief. Then the marvelous rail and face shaped glittering award and a certificate as well…………………and then the (totally unexpected) cheque!. I was also extremely pleased to see David Maidment recognised. His achievement very appropriately wins the whole night for me and the standing ovation that he received was very well deserved. It was really worth being there just for that.
