Said the following about Sae Ah Yoon:

“I would like to nominate Sae Ah Yoon for the Rail Manager of the Year award. As Design Programme Manager for Network Rail’s Capital Delivery team, Sae Ah is responsible for the GRIP1-3 design delivery of the Anglia, Kent, Sussex and Wessex portfolios with over 30 live schemes, leading over 25 engineers in her team. She is supported by Project Managers who she mentors and also line manages. Sae Ah also mentors other Project Managers within the AECOM business.

Sae Ah is a first class engineer and an experienced project manager with an in-depth knowledge on the delivery of multi-disciplinary schemes; and she has successfully carried that over to her management role. She is able to lead by example, allowing her to support, challenge and enable her team members to deliver successfully. This ability has allowed her to excel at her work with a great record of delivery; the outputs from her team are considered ‘best in class’ by the Client team. An example of recognition shown: Sae Ah delivered the Anglia, Kent and Sussex portfolios, and her leadership was so well recognised that when she led the bid and secured the Wessex portfolio, the Client requested that she remained the lead in the enlarged portfolio. That is a huge endorsement from the Client team and a demonstration of the trust they have in her.

Sae Ah is a servant leader who is always calm, who listens and is respected and trusted through her considerate, empathetic style of management. She champions collaboration and is always available to her team and client alike. She is pragmatic, empowering her team to make decisions but recognises she is ultimately accountable. Sae Ah has created a great team spirit in the GRIP1-3 team, it is clear to see when you speak with the team members; and this is positively infectious, immediately having the same favourable effect on new team members.

Sae Ah is an Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) supporter. She recently gave a presentation on women in Engineering, sharing her own experience and her career development, on the challenges she overcame, she is a role model for others to relate to. She is a Delegated Engineer for graduates on the ICE training scheme. She is also a STEM ambassador, guiding and inspiring our next generations to follow the STEM career paths.“
