Said the following about Robert Newbold:

“Robert was working on a local service in July 2016, when his service arrived at the station. He noticed a young man of about 20 standing in the rail side ledge of the Station Overbridge. Rob called over to him to ask if he was OK, did he want Rob to call anybody for help. The young man said that he was going to jump because no one cared or would listen to him. Rob quickly called his driver to make an emergency call to the signaller to get all lines blocked. The man on the overbridge had seen Rob on the phone, he asked him if he had called the police, Rob explained that he had spoken to the Driver to get all trains stopped, Rob them engaged the young man in conversation establishing his name who then told Rob that he was upset because his girlfriend had gone on holiday without saying goodbye, Rob explained how he had been having some relationship issues at home as well, as they talked for some 20 minutes the man climbed back over the railway bridge to the pavement side, Rob suggested that it would be better for him to return home and discuss his relationship problems with his family and friends rather than jumping from the bridge He agreed with Rob and walked away to return safely home.

Rob's Driver that evening records in his report that Rob said "he didn't know quite what to do", however Rob had clearly saved the man from serious injury or worse following his intervention“
