Said the following about Rebecca Vandyke:

“In August 2020 Becky took on a new role as a Network Response Manager, as part of this came a whole raft of training, which she quickly started putting to good use to help colleagues, customers and civilians across the entire GTR Network. Not only has she received a life saver award for an incident intervention meaning that somebody got the mental health support they needed, she has also rushed to rescue at 3 different road accident scenes just outside the railway, giving medical support at all of the scenes as well as managing one of the scenes. She also provided a fantastic range of support to all those involved in a cardiac arrest, including the family of the person who arrived at the scene in great distress, earning her a commendation from the CEO of GTR. Despite being nervous about the responsibility of her new role, she has volunteered to help out at every disruption she has come across, working well over her time during one incident to support a new driver when rescuing a broken down train. She has also become the friendly face across the Network that supports with collecting passengers items from the track, ensuring that they don't come to harm and valuable Network Rail resources can be deployed to other incidents. When not busy doing these things in her role, she regularly volunteers to join the Samaritans at the Days of Action held at local stations and in her spare time has also raised money both bike riding and walking to support local charities near her home station.“

Said the following about Rebecca Vandyke:

“Rebecca has been a Network Response Manager since August 2020. She is one of the calmest most level headed people I have had the pleasure to manage. Her role is to respond to the unexpected and she excels in this environment, she has undertaken extensive training in a variety of different areas which has given her the skills and confidence to respond without hesitation. Rebecca can be called to assist with any eventually from collecting items from the tracks to undertaking CPR on unwell passengers and everything in between. Rebecca is the eyes and ears of the control centre on the ground, her contribution to the safe, on-time running of the network is invaluable.

Rebecca is always extremely alert and whenever I spend time with her she notices everything and reacts to keep our passengers safe and prevent any injuries. Rebecca is very approachable and knowledgeable. I’ve witnessed her dealing with some challenging passengers, she remains calm and in charge. She has built up an excellent network of contacts across our networks and he is well liked and trusted by the people she interacts with. Whichever station I’ve been to with her, she is always greeting people with a smile and a hello. She knows what going on in our stations and seems to be able to retain a huge amount of knowledge.

Rebecca truly embodies our values and is the epitome of ‘we’re with you’. Not only does she excel at her role, she also takes part in the day of actions events across the network. Rebecca is an avid walker and has walked a truly astounding number of miles in air or raising money for worthy causes.“
