Said the following about Paul BOWMAN:

“At 16:00 hrs on Monday 11th July 2016 South West Trains RCOs Porter and Bowman were on foot patrol in full uniform carrying out high visibility reassurance/OP Trafalgar Patrols at Woking Railway

Station when they were called over to an incident on platform 1.

On arrival they were directed to a male who had collapsed on the floor. The male’s lips had gone blue and he wasn’t breathing. Without hesitation and whilst still within their training period as new recruits RCO Porter began giving lifesaving CPR whilst RCO Bowman called for an ambulance. The 2 officers then took it in turns to continue the CPR until the ambulance arrived on scene. When the ambulance arrived the crew were able to take over using a defibrillator to stabilise the male. He was then taken to a local Hospital and identified as a Mr Clark.

Mr Clark survived the night but had to be placed in a medically induced coma for his body to recover from the trauma. He remained in intensive care for three days and then had to undergo life saving surgery. Mr Clark survived the ordeal and is back at his home with his family. He was extremely thankful for the life saving intervention carried out by the two young in service Rail Community Officers.

I would like to highlight the exceptional work of RCOs Porter and Bowman. Without their life saving intervention the outcome may not have been such a positive one.“
