“Another Network Rail employee, Edward Holt witnessed Michael Hoggs actions - his statement is below:
Edward Holt - "I am on call and was in the Chippenham area carrying out safety checks Monday night when I was informed that a suicidal male was threatening to jump from the new footbridge at Chippenham station. I arrived at site to find that Michael Hogg from our works delivery team was up on the footbridge talking to the individual who was stood on the outside of the bridge with both feet holding on to a security camera post. For some time Michael talked to him whilst the police were informed and I contacted Control to advise the of the situation. After a while Michael came down from the footbridge carrying the individual and delivered him safely into the custody of the police.
Michaels actions were exceptional and potentially saved a life. I was extremely impressed by the way Michael dealt with this".“
