Said the following about Marlene Donaldson:

“Marlene was on duty in the ticket office at the station when a distressed member of the public rushed down to tell Marlene that there was a suicidal male on the platform. Marlene rushed out of the office and whilst travelling upstairs she managed to contact Control so the trains could travel through with Caution.

She is used all her negotiating skills to get the man to come away from the edge of the platform and she managed to get him to sit on the stairs and prevented him from getting onto the platform again. She calmly assured him until the Police and Ambulance arrived to take him to hospital. Marlene was praised by various members of the community who returned letters of commendation and congratulations for her brave efforts.

Our Control informed me that she dealt with the situation unbelievably well and couldn't have done better. Marlene saved a life that day and was so quick and confident in such a distressing situation.“

Said the following about Marlene Donaldson:

“I do not only commend Marlene for her compassion but also her bravery, not knowing this persons state of mind but still having the courage to approach them and keep them calm until relevant parties arrived its not always easy. Its not always the training given that helps but being able to think quick on your feet. When Marlene joined the booking office she shadowed me for over a year so I got to know her personally and knowing the person she is I would have expected nothing less.

Well done Marlene.“

“As human beings, there are many things we are all able to achieve and succeed. However, it takes a really unique, selfless and compassionate to value the life of another, especially in the day age we live in.

Marlene forget herself to save the life of another person and that takes a special kind of person to do that.

Really proud and honoured of Marlene!!!“
