“I would like to nominate Marie for this award as she has been a tower of strength over the last 18-24 months. Her knowledge and passion for safety is outstanding.
A little bit about Marie - She lives near Edinburgh and covers from Scotland to Oxenholme. She is our "Regional Safety Manager". Some of her responsibilities are: delivering Train Manager rules competency, providing risk assessments for the business when new initiatives with the frontline teams are being proposed, supporting On Board Managers and Station Managers with Health & Safety and monitoring and reducing accidents/incidents and so much more! In addition to all of these she has guided us through the pandemic, ensuring our customers and colleagues are safe. She led on risk assessments during this time for all of her regional stations and on board depots. Liaising with reps and managers alike. She is visible on the patch and a constant "go to" for all matters safety. Previously she introduced a step guide for the on board crew after identifying an increase in burns and scalds, creating the guide from scratch, presenting it to the business and now it takes pride of place in all fleet galleys as a constant reminder to the crew.
She is motivated and pro-active in her role and her dedication is second to none.
Marie goes above and beyond what is expected of her and I would love to see her recognised for this outstanding work and contribution to our organisation.“
“I felt extremely honoured when i received an invite for the Rail Staff awards 2014. I really did not expect it so it was a very pleasant surprise and had no hesitation in accepting the invite to this prestigious event. My experience of the evening was amazing. We choose to get into the spirit of the evening and arrive in fancy dress which thankfully so did a lot of other people. The food was of fantastic quality and the little deserts were the best. The entertainment provided was thoroughly entertaining. The evening was expertly planned from beginning to end. It was a very humbling experience to watch the nominees and winners and listen to the reasons why they were there. I felt extremely proud to be part of the railway family.”
