“I would like to nominate the station team at Manchester Piccadilly for getting through a really rough time during the covid pandemic
Last November we had an outbreak at the station and lost 50 of the 90 to staff to either covid, or covid isolation.
The 40 team who remained managed to keep the station running safely with a very limited work force.
They remain upbeat and positive and created an emergency roster to ensure we still had a safe despatch team, and a retail and gateline operation
We had no station delays, or complaints, the team looked after each other throughout whilst also checking on their colleagues, two of which we're in hospital, and dealing with PHE, DFT and NR requests and restrictions
I am so proud of how the team worked together for the benefit of the customers and went above and beyond to pull out all the stops to ensure we could still run a safe service with less than half of our workforce
