Dasha Pritchard

Said the following about Harrison Jones:

“Harrison has joined AECOM’s growing bridge team as a Graduate from University of Portsmouth in September 2021. He is a very enthusiastic individual with a great ability to keep the team together. He has planned and organised a number of CAFA (Civils Assessments Framework Agreement) Wessex inspections for our team with great success. He is a nominated office first aider. He is a very observant individual with a great eye for addressing risks and either removing or minimising them. For example, he has added new risks from wildlife (horses, deer, swans, etc) to our task briefings for CAFA inspections after previous observations. He is also a very caring, which he has demonstrated on one inspection where he stopped and helped a lost elderly lady with dementia. In his short career he has achieved AECOM’s Safety Coin (recognition of good safe practice at work). He is also a great mentor to our new starters and thanks to him we have a clear H&S record for our team. Harrison is an active graduate member for ICE. He is already showing great mentoring ability and I’m proud to have Harrison in our team.“

Said the following about Harrison Jones:

“Harrison works as part of the Basingstoke Bridges Team within AECOM and has been an instrumental part of the safe planning and execution of inspection work for Network Rail's Civils Assessment Framework Agreement (CAFA).

I have personally worked with Harrison on Inspections, most notably during the Inspection of a railway underbridge directly outside of Waterloo Station. This was a very complex site which required planning a large team of staff from AECOM to mobilise along with several sub-contractors and external parties who were utilising the road closure. Harrison's excellent inspection planning ensured that the works were carried out efficiently and safely, an achievement which was recognized internally within AECOM via the "Safety Coin" award as well as by the client through feedback.

Furthermore, during this shift, Harrison stopped to help an elderly person with dementia whilst stopping back in at the welfare location. Harrison ensured the person was safe whilst he contacted the police and acted as a kind and upstanding member of society and did the company proud.

Harrison is a key part of how AECOM operate the CAFA contract successfully and safely and is a great example to all other staff of different levels.“

Said the following about Harrison Jones:

“During the course of Harrison’s first year within the AECOM bridges team, Harrison has exhibited a great ‘safety first’ attitude; both within the office and throughout the CAFA (Civils Assessments Framework Agreement) Wessex project. When he first started, he was one of the first to volunteer himself as the office first aider and completed the course within one month of his starting date. During the COVID pandemic, reduced staff members were inevitable working in-person at the office and so fewer first aiders were available. He made sure to liaise with other first aiders in the office to ensure that on busy days the office was covered.

He is also an invaluable asset to the CAFA Wessex team and can be relied upon for safety related issues and planning. He has helped manage the inspection planning for the project and has maintained safety as his top priority. He always ensures that the subcontractors on site and the equipment in use are all fit for purpose and follows the correct safety guidelines. He was also one of the first within the growing team to be PTS trained and showed great enthusiasm in completing the course. He has mentored numerous members of junior staff, by showing them the ropes when it comes to inspections. As a result of his caring and approachable attitude, junior members of staff are comfortable to go to him for any safety related concerns. When on site he has a very positive attitude and ensures that all members are aware of activity and site risks, by successfully identifying potential issues and pointing them out.

Overall, Harrison has a great attitude when it comes to safety and wellbeing, despite having only been working for a year since graduation. He is a great example of someone who is considerate of his surroundings and others, and thus has helped cultivate an environment where people are happy to come to him for help; whilst also being comfortable himself to point out any issues concerning safety.“
