Said the following about Geoff Kenney:

“Geoff graduated from Newcastle University in 2002 with a degree in Surveying and Mapping Science, and started working for Mouchel Parkman as a Graduate Surveyor in Hertfordshire soon after. After a period of site work and learning his trade in practise, Geoff moved to Halcrow in 2007,as part of the Geospatial team in the Leeds office, progressing from field surveyor up to the role of Project Manager. He worked largely with government agencies such as the Environment Agency and British Waterways, and worked on several flood defence schemes and asset improvement projects, including the emergency response to the severe floods of summer 2007. He also worked on local infrastructure projects including the Leeds Bradford Airport expansion, River Hull improvement scheme and also undertook was able to get some exposure to the Network Rail infrastructure.

After seven years at Halcrow Geoff was offered the opportunity to relocate to Western Australia working for Whelans as a Project Manager. Primarily based in Perth, Geoff also managed works in remote areas throughout the North West of Western Australia which involved extensive travel and work on range of projects for clients such as Rio Tinto and Calibre Rail. These projects were mainly related to the expansion of Western Australia’s iron ore mining industry and involved the construction of new railways and roads and the expansion of an existing port to accommodate the export of iron ore.

After over two years in Western Australia Geoff, his wife and two children travelled back to the UK, and Geoff was offered the position of Project Manager in the Bridgeway Geomatics Team in January 2014. Since joining Bridgeway, Geoff has coped with a steep learning curve in terms of understanding Bridgeway’s own processes, and becoming conversant in the ways of the railway industry – while still managing projects as diverse as the Cambridge Interlocking Renewals, London Liverpool Street and Euston Laser Scans, and Ferriby to Gilberdyke Resignalling amongst others.

Geoff’s current role is that of Principal Project Manager which alongside project management involves a large element of developing the team’s capabilities and overseeing the day to day running of survey activities. It gives me great pleasure to nominate Geoff for this award after seeing him develop within such a short space of time to become an integral part of Bridgeway’s surveying capability.“
