Said the following about David Stinton:

“David is highly rated and exemplary Rail Project Manager, managing multi-disciplinary design delivery for AECOM. David started as Assistant Project Manager, proved his solid skills and achievements, and has been moved up to Project Manager in Rail Systems Development. David has been managing GRIP 1-3 Eastern Capital Delivery Track Development works for Anglia route, which includes over 10 schemes together with other enhancement works of early Plain Line renewals design for 21 schemes and Batch 3 special clearance gauging projects for 7 schemes as Project Manager. This involves working with AECOM’s multi-disciplinary and multi-locations business and different clients and stakeholders to manage.

Outside of working, David is an Army Reservist, and a member of the Railway Specialist team in the Royal Engineers, where he has built up his experience on railway survey, design, construction and maintenance. He practiced his leadership from his role by training and providing guidance to less experienced soldiers. These experiences from Army Reserve and his keenness on technical discussion and solution shaped David as a unique and very competent Project Manager with great understanding of Railway Engineering and Integration of Engineering System.

What I most admire about David is he always deals with situations, regardless how challenging they are, in a very calm, professional and measured way.

One of the biggest challenges on GRIP 1-3 is programme changes, often due to asset data availability and requirement changes. David quickly liaises with client, internal team and relevant stakeholders to propose the most achievable and efficient revised programme, best to suit all parties. With a revised programme, David reviews any associated cost impact so that the most accurate forecast data can be provided, which is well received by the client. This also involves resource planning with discipline leads, discussing changes of priority and resource allocations accordingly.

David always put safety of the team and project as priority, keeping up-to-date with safety related standards to brief the team, coordinating between survey team and client to put the high standard survey plan process and paperworks in place. David often visits sites together with the project team or as Lead Engineer for multi-disciplinary walkover surveys, observing areas of improvement and implements for the next survey.

David has a positive attitude, and is always proactive, taking ownership and extremely reliable and these are proved from trust and respects earned from colleagues and clients, working with him.“
