“Ben was travelling to work when a train struck a 15 year old boy on the Old Stoke Road crossing. On hearing the driver's announcement, Ben immediatly went forward to support Sarah (the driver) until the emergency services arrived along with the on-call staff. I understand that he also volunteered to climb down to locate the casualty who was underneath the train, seriously injured but still alive. This was a traumatic thing to do and not something we would ask our staff to do, but allowed the signaller to inform the ambulance service. He is a shinging example of our values in a very stressful situation and a very special young person.“
