Said the following about Becky Topping:

“Becky Topping and Scott Paton from Abellio Greater Anglia dealt with a difficult and potentially tragic situation while demonstrating a calm and professionalism approach throughout.

Becky and Scott were conducting a site visit to Hythe station in Essex. Whilst at the station, they observed a middle aged gentleman walking along the 4ft via the level crossing. It was evident that the gentleman had the intention to take his own life. Scott managed to persuade the gentleman to make his way back up the platform end, whilst Becky was contacting the signaller/control. They moved the gentleman to a position of safety and stayed with him until a British Transport Police unit arrived.

Having calmed the gentleman down it became evident that he had mental health issues.“

Said the following about Becky Topping:

“Becky and I were conducting a site visit to Hythe station, Essex, when we noticed a gentleman walking along the 4ft. Both Becky and I called out to the gentleman, It was evident that the male wanted to take his own life. While I continued to speak to the male, Becky contacted the signalman/Control to advise them of the situation. After a while I managed to persuade the male to move to a position of safety. Whilst I attended to the Male Becky was in constant contact with control and then the BTP. We comforted the male until the BTP arrived. Without Becky's help this could have turned into a tragic situation.“
