Said the following about Anthony Warne:

“Antony had two interventions in one week in June 2016.

The first intervention was at a station, where he assisted with a vulnerable female who they had restrained in a platform shelter and was becoming agitated. The female attempted to run at an approaching train, but using his Samaritans training he was able to calm the female and lead her from the station and to a place of safety away from the railway. Once away from the station the female told him that “she wanted to die” as her partner had recently killed himself and she had just been released from a care unit. We handed her into the care of the BTP and Ambulance service and assisted escorting her to the local hospital.

The second intervention was at a station after receiving a call from the crossing keeper who had seen a female sitting on the edge of the platform crying. Antony immediately made his way to the female and began to speak to her whilst placing himself between her and the operational railway. She told him that she “wanted to die” and started to walk towards the platform edge, using his Samaritans training he was able to convince her to leave the station and we lead her to a place of safety. As we were talking a train approached the station and she attempted to run at it, with the assistance of his co-worker he was able to restrain her and she agreed to return to his vehicle. He was able to talk with the female further, keeping her calm and handed her into the BTPs’ care.“
