The RailStaff Awards 2024

Stuart Keith

Said the following about Andy Limbert:

“Andrew Limbert is a driver for Great Western Railway at Bristol depot, and whilst he has only been a Driver Instructor since March of 2015 he has single-handedly reinvented and exemplified what ‘best practice’ and ‘going above and beyond’ actually mean within his role and responsibilities as a DI. He shows a keen enthusiasm to teach and tutor both the new and experienced, being the go-to guy for getting the difficult tasks done.

It is a testament to his abilities that trainees joining the depot for their handling ask for Andy by name, hoping to benefit from his tutelage. He has taken the 6317 course so he is able to complete route questions with trainees and experienced-hands-a-like, a responsibility reserved to Route Assessors, however his hunger for development has seen him undertake this. He will happily change his plans and move his working times to accommodate the learning of the trainee as well as providing support when he isn’t in work. His work ethic and desire to develop and help people within the depot makes him an absolute credit to the depot and GWR as a whole.

He single handed created training diagrams that would provide the most efficient way of gaining core route driving hours which has seen the average number of training days to pass out a trainee from 388 to 168 days and the average number of hours from 388 to 268 hours.“
